Unique for Florida, Gainesville, has an amazing network of spring feed creeks. Some of the water is from the Florida Aquifer some from the surface aquifer recharged in north central Gainesville.
I have a concern that paving over this recharge area will have a drastic effect on the water cycle in this area. In part by reducing the Green space with the increased density, and in part by stopping the recharge by directing rain runoff to the creeks, creating more chances of flooding on overflowing the flood plane.
